MIAMI, Fla. -- The Barry Swimming team continue their home tour in Miami Shores to play against Bowling Green and Simon Fraser in their first 2025 dual meet. While the Men would solely face Simon Fraser, the Women will being having the double dual meet. The Barry Men's team had a strong performance against Simon Fraser but would fall in the close contest of 144-116. The Barry Women's team had a tough day on the water, losing both matches against Bowling Green (211-46) and Simon Fraser (161-90) but featured some standout performances from some of their key swimmers. The Bucs will take this time to recuperate and prepare for their next match against St. Thomas (FL).
Barry's women delivered strong performances, highlighted by Diana Suprun's continued remarkable showing. Suprun claimed victory in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:06.96 and secured second place in the 200 Breaststroke at 2:23.82. She also contributed valuable points in the 200 IM with a fourth-place finish, rounding out an impressive day. The team will look to bounce back and set the tone of the 2025 season next Friday.
HIGHLIGHTS (Women)
Barry's men dominated with standout performances from Roland Nagy, Balazs Ament, and Louis Ainley. Nagy led with victories in the 100 Back (52.11) and 200 Back (1:53.50), demonstrating his dominance in the backstroke events. Ament excelled across multiple disciplines, claiming first place in the 100 Breast (57.07), 200 Breast (2:05.77), and 200 IM (1:56.16). Louis Ainley added to the team's success with a commanding win in the 50 Free (21.49) and a second-place finish in the 100 Back, showcasing his speed and consistency. Together, these performances propelled Barry to a commanding meet despite the loss.
