MADISON, NJ — After a perfect opening weekend, the Barry Men's Volleyball team took their first trip to the Northeast and played Division I Farleigh Dickinson. The Buccaneers picked up their first loss of the season in four sets to the Knights from Madison, New Jersey.
Final: FDU 3, Barry 1
Records: Farleigh Dickinson (1-0), Barry (3-1)
All-Time Series: FDU leads 1-0
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set One - To no surprise, the Buccaneers fell behind early in the first set, as FDu jumped out to a 7-3 lead. Barry reversed that quickly with a 5-0 run that put them up 8-7. The defense stepped up with back to back blocks as Tristan Blake led a hand in both, using the help of Elias Fuhrer in the first block. After.a 14-14 tie, BU scored three straight that would give them a big enough lead to hold the rest of the way. FDu tried creeping their way back in, but service errors would not benefit them in the end. | Barry 25, FDU 23
- Set Two - The second set was a complete turnaround for the Knights as they swung .550 in the set with 12 kills and four blocks. Barry hit in the negative and only record five kills. Nine attak errors would be too much to overcome. | Barry 12, FDU 25
- Set Three - This was a tight set up front, Barry held the lead early, going up by as much as four. FDU used two long runs to take the set. The Knights had 14 kills and hit .219 while the Buccaneers had six kills and onnce again hit negative. | Barry 17, FDU 25
- Set Four - Farleigh Dickinson had complete control of the set, holding the lead from start to finish. Barry did minimize their errors but it would not be enough to make the comeback. | Barry 13, FDU 25
