DAVIE, Fla.-- The No. 2 ranked Barry Buccaneers men's golf team finished in second place at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional , scoring 289 (+5) on the final round, at the Grande Oaks GC on Saturday evening. With their second-place finish, the Bucs will advance to the nationals for the second straight year, marking the 15th time since 2004.
The clubhouse was flush with talent as seven of the top-ten teams in the country were joined by twelve other ranked teams to compete for six spots in the NCAA DII National Championship.
The third-ranked West Florida Argonauts claimed the team title at -8, using a -1 round 3 to surpass the Bucs for the crown.
BUCCANEER HIGHLIGHTS:
AJ Ewart (-6) (67-67-73--207) T-3rd Place
- Ewart tied with Quintero on par-3 holes at -1, to lead the Bucs.
- Shot even on par-4 holes.
- -5 on par-5 holes, which was tied for third among all golfers.
- Tied for lead of field with 42 pars, including 17 straight in round three.
- Recorded eight birdies and one eagle.
Felipe Alvarez (-3) (67-71-72--210) T-8th Place
- Led Barry in par-4 scoring at -2, good for fifth among whole field.
- Led Barry in par-4 scoring at -6, tied for second among whole field.
- 37 holes on par and tied D'Ambrosio for Buc lead at birdies.
Santiago Chamorro (+3) (71-72-73--216) T-43rd Place
- -3 on par-5 holes.
- Tied for second among field with 41 holes on par.
Nicolas Quintero (+5) (71-73-74--218) T-49th Place
- Tied with Ewart for Barry lead on par-3 scoring at -1. Also good for tied for third among field.
- 40 pars, good for tied for third among field, and recorded five birdies.
Amani D'Ambrosio (+6) (71-77-71--219) T-57th Place
- -1 on par-5 holes.
- Recorded 30 pars.

RESULTS
NOTEWORTHY:
- Bucs were fifth in par-3 scoring at +10.
- Barry was second in par-4 scoring at +10. West Florida was only team to score under par (-1).
- Also second in par-5 scoring at -15.
- Barry led field with 190 pars. Bucs recorded 38 birdies and were one of six teams to record one eagle. Three teams had two.
- Barry has historically been one of the top teams in Division II, having won a stroke-play championship in 2007 and back-to-back titles in 2013 and 2014 under the current match-play format.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs will now travel to Warren, Ohio for the NCAA DII National Championship starting on Monday, May 22.
