Men's Golf Wraps Up the Regular Season at the Battle of the Lakes

DAVIE, Fla. -- The Barry University men's golf team hosted the Battle of the Lakes for the first time this year, featuring 14 of 18 teams ranked in the latest GolfStat rankings, seven of which are in the top-25. The 16th-ranked Barry men's golf team finished in fourth place, placing higher than six SSC opponents, with the B team finishing in 15th place.  Eduardo Matarazzo led the way with a second-place finish at 9-under with rounds of 70-70-67. The Buccaneers finished behind 27th-ranked USC Beaufort, 18th-ranked Saint Leo, and 42nd-ranked Palm Beach Atlantic. 

The Bucs finished 3-over with rounds of 298-285-284--867.

BUCCANEER HIGHLIGHTS:

Eduardo Matarrazo (-9) (70-70-67--207) Second Place

  • Tied for second in par 4s, finishing 2-under
  • Led the team in par 4s 
  • Finished the tournament tied for seventh in total birdies, with 15 and just six bogeys
  • Top five in the least amount of bogeys total
  • His best round was the third round, where he had six birdies and finished 5-under
  • Fourth top-10 finish, and third top-2 finish this year
  • was the only Buccaneer to finish under par
  • 48 of 54 holes at par or better
  • Totaled 33 pars 

Ismael Garcia (E) (71-72-73--216) T17th Place

  • Finished the tournament tied for sixth in par 4s, going 1-over
  • recorded one of his lowest rounds of the year with 71 
  • Totaled 30 pars and 12 birdies for the tournament

Anthony Amoroso (+4) (75-68-77--220) T30th Place

  • Placed first in total eagles, finishing the tournament with three eagles
  • The only Buc with more than one eagle
  • Finished tied for second in par 5s, going 8-under
  • Led the team in par 5s
  • Had his best round on the front nine of round two, where he had two eagles and finished 6-under
  • Totaled 28 pars and eight birdies to finish the tournament 

Daniel Vanososte (+5) (76-72-73--221) T34th Place

  • Completed the tournament with one eagle
  • Best round was the second round, where he had an eagle and three birdies
  • Totaled 30 pars and nine birdies 

Giorgio Celani (+6) (77-75-70--222) T41st Place

  • One of five Bucs to finish with an eagle
  • The back nine of the third round was his best round, completing it with five birdies and going 2-under
  • Totaled  29 pars and nine birdies 

Guilherme Ziccardi (+9) (81-72-72--225) T51st Place

  • Best round came in the second round, where he finished even and had three birdies
  • Totaled 32 pars and eight birdies


Tomy Jaunet (+11) (78-74-75--227) T57th Place

  • Had his best round in round two, where he had three birdies
  • Totaled 26 pars and nine birdies

Nicloas Saboya (IND) (+11) (80-76-71--227) T57th Place

  • finished the tournament with one eagle 
  • Totaled 31 pars and six birdies for the tournament
