Baseball Loses Doubleheader To Tritons

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost both games of a Sunshine State Conference baseball doubleheader to the Eckerd Tritons at the Turley Athletic Complex on Saturday, losing the series two games to one.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Frank II Gonzalez (1-1) was tagged for the loss in the first game. He worked five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks. It was his first loss since May 5, 2019 at Florida Tech as a freshman.
  • Angel Cespedes (2-1) took the loss in the nightcap. He allowed four runs on four hits and two walks in 4.1 innings.
  • Cox (3-1) earned with win in game one for Eckerd. He held the Bucs to a run on four hits in 6.0 innings.
  • Tucker Shalley (2-1) got the win in game two with three shutout innings of relief. He gave up two hits and a walk.
  • Gavin Grubbs worked the rare four-inning save. He gave up a run on four hits and a walk.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry plays the California (Pa.) Vulcans in a game at the Russ Matt Baseball Classic in Auburndale, Fla., at Lake Myrtle Park on Tuesday.
