MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - Barry University men's basketball head coach Butch Estes announced his first signee of the 2024 class this week in Dakota Morris.

The 6-6 forward signed with Barry entering his senior year at Florida State University High School playing under head coach Charlie Ward. During his junior season the Seminoles posted a 27-4 record, advancing to the Region Finals of the 3A State Tournament. It was their second-straight trip to the Region Final while advancing to the State Tournament all three seasons.

"I think the signing of Dakota is the start of another great freshman class," Estes said. "He is obviously coming out of a great program which is coached by the legendary Ward. I love his versatility, he is very capable of doing a lot of things well and playing multiple positions."

Morris averages 12.0 points on .460 shooting from the field with 8.0 rebounds.

"I chose Barry because on my visit it really felt like home," Morris said. "I also see myself really fitting in with the system here on both ends of the floor."

The 2023-24 Buccaneers are currently 2-1 on the season, next in action on Saturday, Nov. 18 in the inaugural Charleston Cup Classic against Emory & Henry with tip-off set for 1 p.m.
