MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Three more players complete the women's soccer recruiting class for head coach Tafadzwa Ziyenge for the fall of 2022.
Midfielder Linea Jørgensen, forward Mia Applegate, and midfielder Madison Paster join the team this fall.
Linea Jørgensen
Jørgensen (5-7, Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark) is a talented player with the ability to play a number of positions across the midfield. She played with Aalborg BK, playing in 29 games and making 11 starts.
"I choose Barry because it's a very strong school both in academics and sports," Jørgensen said. "After some good conversations with the coach I came to the conclusion that Barry is the perfect match for me."
"Linea is a multi-purpose player who will add physicality to the heart of our midfield," Ziyenge said.
Mia Applegate
Applegate (5-7, Greenwood HS/QSI International School, Greenwood, S.C.) brings international experience as well, after earning QSI Astana Athlete of the Year and Tournament MVP for Central Asia Soccer Classic in the fall of 2019, leading the team in 12 goals over the five-game tournament. In 2020 she also trained with BJMORSM, a semi-professional women's team in Astana, Kazakhstan. In 2022, she was chosen to play for the Greenville Triumph's U19 academy team in the USL Academy Cup where they placed third.
"I chose Barry because of the genuine, supportive coaching staff, international student-body, competitive league, as well as the big city environment," Applegate said. "It also doesn't hurt that it's close to the beach!"
"Mia is a blue collar forward capable of operating as an outside midfielder if needed," Ziyenge said.
Madison Paster
Paster (5-3, South Alabama, Clearwater, Fla.) is another NCAA Division I transfer from South Alabama. She appeared in seven matches for coach Richard Moodie's Jaguars and netted a goal in the 15-0 victory over Alcorn State on Sept. 12. A three-year letter winner at East Lake High in Tarpon Springs, Fla., under coach John Despota. She scored 39 goals for the Eagles, earning an all-county selection as a junior and second-team as a sophomore.
"I chose Barry for the opportunity to continue playing at a highly competitive level closer to home," Paster said.
Madison is a high energy striker and midfielder who can shoot from long distance," Ziyenge said.
The Bucs open fall camp on Monday, Aug. 8 and kick off the regular season in a tournament at Columbus State in Georgia Aug. 26-28.
