MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Head coach Butch Estes has added his second graduate transfer, third transfer overall, in Jaron Williams from NCAA Division I program Robert Morris.
"I am really happy we can get a player with Jaron's talent and experience this late in the recruiting process," Estes said. "He has been a very productive player for every team he has played for. I believe his abilities and skills fit in our system well."
In the 2021-22 season for Robert Morris, Williams played in 28 games while starting 17. He averaged 7.0 points per game to go along with 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists. He scored in double figures five times and his best scoring game came against Ohio on Nov. 15 when he scored 19 points.
Before his time at Robert Morris, Williams spent a season at UT Martin during the 2020-2021 year. While there, he played in all 24 games and made a team-best 22 starts for the Skyhawks. He was second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.3 points per game while shooting 49.2 percent from the floor and 36.6 percent from the arc. He also added 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game to go along with 18 steals and seven blocks on the season. He was able to score in double figures 12 times, including four 20-plus point performances.
Prior to UT Martin, Williams spent two seasons at Central Florida CC. In his sophomore year, he led the Patriots to a 25-7 record and a share of the Mid-Florida Conference regular season championship. He averaged 11.3 points per game on 43.6 percent from the floor while adding 3.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He scored in double figures 18 times. In the 2018-19 year as a freshman, Williams scored 7.2 points per game, while shooting 48.2 percent from the floor, hitting double figures 10 times.
In high school, Williams played at York Preparatory Academy in South Carolina. He led the Patriots to a 24-5 record as a senior while averaging 25.4 points per game. As a junior, he led York Prep to the USA Prep Basketball National Championship and averaged 19 points per game with 8.0 rebounds per game. He chalked up all-area accolades in each of his final three seasons as a Patriot.
