DAVIE, Fla. -- Four of five golfers finished even or better at the NSU Shark Invitational, as the men's golf team made the debut for new head coach Carlos Velez a memorable one with top-ranked Barry taking the team title in his first tournament at the helm.
The Bucs were the only team to finish the tournament under par at a remarkable -13, including a tournament-best round of 272 (-12) on the final round. The 272 tied for fifth-best in program history.

RESULTS
NOTEWORTHY:
- All six golfers, including individual Makinen, were under par on par-5 holes
- Barry led the field in par 3 (+3), par-4 (+9) and par-5 (-22) scoring
- Barry had 57 birdies, 10 more than second-best Florida Southern, Embry-Riddle and North Georgia
- Barry had 225, out of 270, par or better holes
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs travel to the west coast for the Otter Invitational in Seaside, Calif., on Oct. 17-18. The tournament is hosted by CSU-Monterrey Bay.
