SEASIDE, Calif. -- Three of five golfers finished even or better at the Otter Invitational, as the men's golf team won for the second time for head coach Carlos Velez.
The Bucs were the only team to finish the tournament under par at -8, including a tournament-best round of 279 (-9) on the second round.
BUCCANEER HIGHLIGHTS:
Nicolas Quintero (-8) (69-68-71--208) 2nd Place
- One of eight golfers in the field, and two Buccaneers, to finish under par
- Also finished under par on all three holes lengths
- Tied for second in the field in par-4 scoring
- 46 par or better holes, 30 par and 16 birdies
- Third in the field in birdies
Felipe Alvarez (-2) (72-72-70--214) 6th Place
- 46 par or better holes, 34 pars, 12 birdies
- Tied for lead in par-3 scored at -2
Santiago Chamorro (E) (72-71-73--216) T-9th Place
- 44 par or better holes, including two eagles and seven birdies
- Two eagles were the second tournament in a row for a Buccaneer to post a pair after Alvarez had two at the Shark Invite
- Led the team and tied for second overall, in par-5 scoring (-8)
AJ Ewart (+3) (78-68-73--219) T-18th Place
- Tied for seventh in par-5 scoring (-7)
- 42 par or better holes, including 12 birdies
Amani D'Ambrosio (12) (77-74-77--228) T-59th Place
- 35 par or better holes, including seven birdies
- Third in the field on par-4 scoring

RESULTS
NOTEWORTHY:
- Barry led the field in par-5 (-33) scoring
- Barry had 54 birdies, one behind leader Sonoma State
- Barry's three eagles, two by Chamorro and one by D'Ambrosio, gave them a tournament-best 57 holes under par
- Barry added 157 pars, good for third
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs close out the fall at the Citrus Invitational in Orlando, Fla., at Champions Gate Golf Club, Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
