MIAMI BEACH, FLA. -- The No. 1-ranked team in the country flexed their muscles and pulled away on a windy day during the final round of the 2019 Battle at the Shores Tournament today at the Normandy Shores Golf Course. The Buccaneers
finished the tournament
14 strokes ahead of the runner-up - Lynn University who finished at even par.
Senior Jorge Garcia picked up his fourth tournament win this season hitting 5-under par. His birdie putt on the 18th hole sealed the victory over Agustin Errazuriz from Lynn who finished at 3-under.
"It was a nice team win in tough conditions," Bucs head coach Jimmy Stobs said. "Lynn has a great team and we had to play our best to beat them," Stobs added. "I don't think Jorge played his best golf this week, but he likes this golf course and made some amazing shots down-the-stretch including a great putt on the 18th hole to seal it. We're going to try and clean up some of the mistakes we committed this week and try to get better heading into the postseason," Stobs added.
"There was a lot of wind so the course was playing a little different than what we're used to," Jorge Garcia said. "I think the front nine was playing easier today than yesterday, so that gave me some confidence in the back nine because I knew there were some birdie opportunities," Garcia added. "I think the most important thing [heading into the post season] is that if we play our best, we're a really tough team to beat."
NOTEWORTHY:
- This marks the eighth victory in 15 years of running the tournament for the Bucs.
- Barry had seven golfers in the Top-20.
