MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry Buccaneers play host to the Sunshine State Conference leaders, the Embry-Riddle Eagles, this weekend at Feinbloom Field.
The Bucs, 26-15, 13-11 SSC, are currently fifth in the conference and ranked ninth in the NCBWA South Region Poll. The Eagles, 25-15 and 14-7 SSC, are in first place in the conference, but just sixth in the region.
Both teams won their conference series last week. The Bucs won two of three at Rollins, while Embry-Riddle swept Lynn at home. Barry fell 5-2 at Florida Tech in a non-conference game on Monday, while the Eagles did not play a mid-week game.

The 2019 Baseball Seniors

Deyvid Silva joined the team just this season from D-I South Alabama. He has been a mainstay in the Bucs' lineup and middle infield, starting every game at shortstop. He is second on the team in runs scored and doubles and leads the team in assists. He has had 14 multi-hit games this season and owns a team-best 20-game streak reaching base. He earned Dean's List honors in the fall semester.
Justin Lamazares is also a D-I transfer, joining the team from Campbell in 2017. A career .333 hitter with 95 runs scored and 89 RBI in 123 games, he has a .454 on-base percentage and a .503 slugging average. His 17 career homers is tied for 19th. This season, playing primarily behind the plate, he has 15 multi-hit games and an 11-game hitting streak. A two-time Athletic Director's List and two-time Dean's List recipient, he was named to the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll last year.
Though injuries kept him off the field his first two years, Reuben Pino has been with the team for five years. In 204 career at-bats, he has 31 runs, 11 doubles, 5 homers and 32 RBI. Two of his homers came against Tuskegee in one game in 2017, tying him for second in program history. He has the fifth-highest fielding percentage in program history, marked by a perfect mark in 113 chances this year. The Vice President of Barry's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee the last two years, He has been named to the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll for four straight years.
Next up, Hugo Casilla is a junior college transfer who has spent the last two years shoring up the back of the Buccaneer bullpen. Over 36 career innings, he has struck out 43 and walked 16, going 0-2 with nine saves. This season, he has emerged as one of the top closers in the SSC, boasting a 1.93 ERA and all nine of his saves. The saves rank second in program history for a season and tied for ninth overall. A member of both the Athletic Director's and Dean's Lists, he was named to the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll last year.
Nick Bralczyk is another junior college transfer on the pitching staff. He is 2-3 in 50 innings, striking out 33 and holding opponents to a .277 average. Primarily a starter, 14 of his 19 appearances have opened games. Also a member of both the Athletic Director's and Dean's Lists, he was named to the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll last year.
Amilcar Yanez is with the team for his only season this year after transferring from St. Augustine's. A stalwart of the bullpen, he has seen action in 11 games, 10 out of the pen. He averages 10.24 strikeouts per nine innings and has allowed 1 or fewer runs in six of his 10 relief appearances.
Anthony Gutierrez is yet another four-year letterman who has spent his entire career with the Bucs. A workhorse reliever, in 49 career appearances, he has a 4.35 ERA with a 6-0 record with 2 saves and 65 strikeouts in 91 innings. A three-time member of the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, he has been a member of the Dean's and Athletic Director's lists at Barry.
