RAS AL KHAIMAH, United Arab Emirates -- Former Buccaneer men's golfer Niclas Weiland scored the first professional win of his career on Wednesday Oct, 30, when he won the Ras Al Khaimah open.

At Tower Links Golf Club, the 24-year-old Weiland was solid throughout the round playing in the leadergroup for a five-under par 67, which helped him match the 17-under par 199 clubhouse lead set by Gabriel Axell after a storming final-round of eight-under par 64.

Since 2011, the MENA tour has seen 55 different winners from 20 countries with English players winning 34 of the 74 tournaments . Ahmed Marjan of Morocco created history in 2014, becoming the first golfer from the MENA region to win a tour event, a feat he achieved at the Ras Al Khaimah Classic. India's Rayhan Thomas (2016 Dubai Creek Open) and Pierre Junior Verlaar of the Netherlands (2017 Royal Golf Mohammedia Open ) are the only two amateurs to have won a MENA Golf Tour event.
