MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The second-seeded Barry Buccaneer men's soccer team visits top-seed Palm Beach Atlantic for the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Tournament championship on Sunday at the Rinker Athletic Campus.

The Sailfish came from behind 2-1 against Nova Southeastern University, while the Buccaneers blanked Lynn University 2-0 in the semifinals.

After a second consecutive regular-season title and 27 points in the SSC standings, Palm Beach Atlantic (18-1, 9-1) earned the No. 1 seed in the SSC postseason tournament and a first-round bye. Down 1-0 to Nova Southeastern late in the semifinals, SSC Defensive Player of the Year Juan Sanchez tied the game up for PBA with a free kick just outside the box in the 86th minute. Barry (13-3-1, 7-2-1) claimed the No. 2 seed and a quarterfinal bye with 22 points and head-to-head tiebreakers against Lynn University and Nova Southeastern Southeastern. In the semifinals, the Buccaneers hosted and defeated Lynn University, 2-0, thanks to the play of Luca De biase who scored the game-winner and added an assist. - FULL RECAP

On September 26th, after Francisco Aguirre scored in the 28th minute and Flavio Colasanti added a second goal in the 49th minute, Barry had then-No. 2 PBA on the ropes in Miami Shores. The Sailfish scored its first goal in the 85th minute with a Marc Hebbeker header, followed by a Jack Burrows goal 67-seconds later to even the game at two. In extra time, PBA's Claudio Rivandeneira completed the comeback by knocking in the game-winner on a give-and-go with Juan Pablo Puelma. - FULL RECAP 

Barry owns the advantage between the programs over the last 10 years (7-3-0), including four consecutive wins from 2009 to 2012. PBA has controlled the series as of late, winning the previous two contests. The championship final is the first SSC postseason game between the two programs.

Winner of the men's tournament will receive automatic qualification to the 2018 NCAA Division II Soccer Championships. The opening rounds of the NCAA Division II Championship are scheduled for Saturday, November 10th - Sunday, November 18th at non-predetermined sites. Semifinals and finals for both men and women will be Friday, November 29th - Sunday, December 1st at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa., as part of the NCAA Division II Fall Sports Festival.
