HOUSTON -- Former Barry University men's basketball player
Jevoni Robinson signed a reserve/future contract with the Houston Texans. Jan. 1 was the first official day teams could sign players to future contract deals, and Robinson inked the deal before leaving town.
Robinson, a 6-8, 240-pound tight end, signed a free agent contract with the Texans in the final week of the season. He had two practices with the team, following a private workout. The Texans were impressed with his athleticism and skill set, and decided to bring him back to start next season.
He will report back to Houston in April.
"It's a tremendous privilege to be a part of such a wonderful organization," Robinson said. "Personally, it's a launching pad for me, and signifies all the hard work and training that must go into this offseason."
Robinson met with coaches and the team executives Monday before flying home to Charlotte. He will begin his offseason training immediately. Texans coaches told him to make this offseason a great one.
While he impressed the Texans during his brief stay, Robinson understands he will have to earn a spot on the team when he reports back, beginning with Organized Team Activities. He is listed on the team's practice squad.
