MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's women's tennis team made quick work of Eckerd Saturday, winning 9-0.
It was the final Sunshine State Conference regular season match of the year for the third-ranked Buccaneers, who did not drop a game in seven of the doubles and singles matches combined. Dasha Salnikova, Verena Schmid, Isabel Rapisarda Calvo, Sonja Larsen and Karina Goia all won their singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Zuza Maciejewska and Schmid won their doubles match, 8-0, as did Rapisarda Calvo and Salnikova.

SUMMARY:
- Schmid and Zuza Maciejewska swept Emily Fridrik and Joyce Fields at No. 1 doubles. Rapisarda Calvo and Salnikova also blanked their opponents, beating Laurence Bourgault and Madeline Carlson at the No. 3 position. No. 18-ranked Ana Pain and Larsen defeated Mary Ann Aaron and Bailey Koronich, 8-1, at No. 2.
- Salnikova, the 18th-ranked singles player in Division II, shut out Fridrik at No. 1 singles. Schmid did the same in her No. 2 singles match with Fields to give Barry a 5-0 lead and secure the victory.
- Goia rolled to a sweep of Bourgault at No. 5 singles. Rapisarda Calvo, who is ranked No. 31 in the country, blanked Aaron at No. 3. Sixteenth-ranked Larsen coasted past Koronich at the fourth singles spot. Mara Cerrini polished things off with a 6-3, 6-0 over Isabella Wong at the sixth position.
NOTEWORTHY:
- The sweep was the first for the Bucs since March 21. It is Barry's 12th of the season.
- The Buccaneers have not dropped a match at the No. 5 singles or No. 3 doubles positions all season.
- Larsen won her 20th singles match of the season.
- Maciejewska is 10-0 with both Schmid and Salnikova in doubles play this season for a team-leading 20-0 overall doubles record. Schmid is 12-0 in pairs play.
