No. 6 Women's Tennis Rolls over No. 38 Rollins

Bucs head to Melbourne Sunday to wrap up weekend trip

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry University's sixth-ranked women's tennis team defeated No. 38 Rollins, 9-0, in the Sunshine State Conference opener Saturday.

The Buccaneers still have yet to lose a match this season on the individual and team level. That streak gets another test Sunday at Florida Tech.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP
Final: Barry 9, Rollins 0
Records: Barry 7-0, Rollins 1-2

SUMMARY:

  • Barry showed little resistance in sweeping doubles play, other than a moderate test at No. 2 doubles. The Bucs lost a total of seven games in the three pairs matches with the No. 2 team surrendering four of them.
  • All the singles victories came in straight sets, improving the Bucs individual matches record to 38-0. Ironically, it came on a day when the opponent they were facing wore a No. 38 ranking.
  • Zuza Maciejewska and Dasha Salnikova improved to 6-0 in doubles with the most impressive pairs win, 8-1, at the top position.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Avi Kigel moved within three wins of 200 in his Barry career.
  • Larsen moved into a tie for 21st place on the school's career singles victories list with 39. Her .886 winning percentage ranks fifth all time.
  • Isabel Rapisarda Calvo, Larsen and Maciejewska are each 6-0 in doubles this season -- one less than Salnikova's seven victories.
  • Germans Judith Bohnenkamp and Larsen are 3-0 in pairs play this season.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry plays at Florida Tech 10 a.m. Sunday.
