Grimshaw Earns All-America Honors

Junior picked to the second-team by the USC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Barry University junior midfielder Christy Grimshaw was selected to the All-America second team by the United Soccer Coaches (nee NSCAA).

Grimshaw, the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, led the Bucs to a 9-3-2 record this season, scoring six goals and adding two assists. Three of her six goals were game-winners, against Tampa, Saint Leo and Eckerd. She topped the league's leaderboard in game-winning goals, shots (59) and shots per game (4.92). It is her first All-America selection.

She becomes the 43rd Buccaneer women's soccer player to be named All-American and the first since Lavinia Nkomo in 2014. The 43 selections are the most for any program in NCAA Division II. Only women's (50) and men's (48) tennis have more selections in the department.

Grimshaw was one of only two players selected from the SSC. Nova Southeastern's Bailey Corbin, the SSc Defensive Player of the Year, was a third-team pick after leading the Sharks to the regular-season title.

United Soccer Coaches, formerly the NSCAA, was founded in 1941 and is the largest community for soccer coaches in the world. We unite coaches of all levels around the love of the game and we elevate the game through advocacy, education and service.
