Box Score 2 BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Barry baseball split its Saturday doubleheader with Sunshine State Conference rival Lynn, winning 11-10 and falling 10-4.
In Game 1, the Buccaneers won a slugfest that saw 21 combined runs and 30 hits. Barry got out to an early lead in the first inning when
Mike Diaz hit first home run of the season into right field. Lynn scored twice on a wild pitch and a sac bunt to go ahead, 2-1, in its half of the inning before the Bucs knotted it up at 2-2 the following inning on a sacrifice fly by Diaz that brought in
Khalil Denson.
The game went back and forth over the next five innings before the Fighting Knights used two runs to take a 10-9 lead. Barry responded in the eighth when
Frank Gonzalez drove in
Jonathan Quintana on a sacrifice fly to right-center to tie the game. In the ninth,
Kyle Pangallo scored on a wild pitch to give the Bucs the victory.
Bucs starter
Jonathan Hernandez went 4 2/3 innings pitched, and struck out seven, while closer
Nate Greve earned the win after surrendering two hits and two walks, while fanning two over the final 2 1/3 innings. His record improves to 3-2.
Diaz went 2 for 4 with two homers and four RBI. His second home run came in the fifth. Quintana was 2 for 4, and drove in three runs. Pangallo was 4 for 5 with an RBI.
Alexander DeGoti had two hits.
In Game 2, the Bucs were held scoreless until the sixth when they put three runs on the board on
Ryan Baldwin hit his 13th home run of the season. Baldwin's three-run shot on a 2-2 pitch trimmed the Fighting Knights' lead to five. Quintana's RBI groundout in the eighth tacked on another run, but Lynn held on.

Adrian Benitez (1-3) allowed one hit and one run, and struck out one in one inning of work.
Baldwin had two of Barry's six hits, and collected two walks. DeGoti, Denson, Diaz and Quintana accounted for the other four Bucs hits. Quintana stretched his hitting streak to 12 games, while DeGoti has hit safely in the past 10.
The Bucs (23-23, 7-14 SSC) Lynn improves to 26-21 and are 13-11 in conference play.
The Bucs return to Feinbloom Field next Sunday for the final series of the regular season against Florida Southern. The series opener is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 8, beginning with the Senior Night ceremony.
