GAME NOTES
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's men's basketball team had just cracked the Top 5 last week for the first time this season. But an overtime loss took the Buccaneers out of the Top 10 this week.
Now they have a chance to rebound from their first setback of the season when the Bucs meet Florida Southern 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Lakeland. And rebound is the operative word.
Barry (6-1, 3-1 Sunshine State Conference) has been outrebounded in its past three games. Florida Southern (3-6, 2-1) is averaging four more rebounds per game than the Buccaneers. Barry's top rebounder is
Daniel Mortensen, who is pulling down 5.4 boards per game. He is the only Bucs player averaging over five rebounds per game. The Mocs have four players averaging over five rebounds per game.
In the last three games, the Bucs have been outrebounded, 105-81. That's a difference of eight boards per game.
"We've got to get that corrected," Mortensen said.
In Barry's last trip to Lakeland, the Bucs were upended by two and outrebounded by three. The Bucs won the next two meetings against the Mocs.
Barry's next home game is Monday, Dec. 19 versus Indianapolis at 7 p.m.
