Baseball Wins Big Over EFSC

Big 8th inning leads to Bucs victory

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry baseball ended the 2016 preseason on a big note as they defeated Eastern Florida State College 15-5, Saturday afternoon.

The Buccaneers got off to a fast start, scoring one run in the bottom of the first off an Alexander DeGoti RBI double to right center that brought Carlos Matamoros around.

However the Bucs would put themselves into a deficit, when EFSC's AJ Puigcerver hit a three run homer in the top of the fourth to make it 3-1. The Titans would add to their lead, scoring a run off a throwing error by Barry.

The Bucs would begin to get back into the game beginning in the bottom of the sixth when Kyle Pangallo homered over right field to make it 4-3.

EFSC would get one back in the next inning when Puigcerver scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-3.

In the bottom of the seventh, Alffredi Ramos would hit his first homerun as a Buc while also bringing home Alexander DeGoti to tie the game up at five.

In the eighth inning, the Bucs would go on a scoring spree, scoring 10 runs with six different batters earning RBI's to put the game out-of-reach for the Titans.

Nine Buc pitchers played in the game with Lance Elder earning the win. The Barry rotation struck out eight batters on the day.

Up next for the Bucs is their opening regular season game against 2015 NCAA runners-up, Catawba, on Friday, Jan 29 at 6 PM.
