MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Barry baseball came into tonight's game versus Florida Tech looking to play spoiler on the Panthers' conference title hopes. However, those plans did not come to fruition as the Bucs fell 9-1.
The game got away from the Bucs starting in the second inning when DH Ricky Rodriguez hit a single-run homerun into left field. The Panthers would go on to add five more runs in the next four innings before Barry could respond.
The Bucs' single run of the game came off a
Ryan Baldwin sacrifice fly that brought
JC Cardenas home. Five Bucs had hits on the night with Cardenas, Baldwin and
L.K. Thompson V all leading the team with two hits a-piece.
The Bucs suffered on the mound as they went through three pitching changes as they allowed 14 hits off of seven different batters. Barry pitchers combined for six strikeouts on the night. Tech starter Ashton Fronsoe improves to 7-1 while Bucs starter
Nate Greve falls to 1-3.
The Bucs fall to 15-17 on the season and 3-7 in the SSC, while Florida Tech improves to 28-5 and 10-4 in the conference.
