MELBOURNE, Fla.—The Barry University baseball team (5-6) dropped a pair of non-conference games to the Florida Tech Panthers (7-4) on Sunday afternoon. The Bucs fell in the first game 10-3, and lost 3-0 in the second.
In the first game Florida Tech scored two runs in the first and never looked back. They scored two more in the fifth, one in the sixth, and added five insurance runs in the eighth.
The Bucs' runs came in the sixth and ninth. In the sixth,
Drew Dwelly walked and
Chris Leon doubled advancing Dwelly to third. Dwelly scored on a
Dean Green sacrifice grounder and Leon got home on a Florida Tech error. In the ninth,
Harold Holness scored on a
Julio Ramos RBI double.
Josh Ziemba took the win for Florida Tech, moving to 2-0.
Corey Witkowski moved to 2-1 in the Buccaneer loss.
The Bucs lost the second game of the afternoon 3-0 in a seven-inning event.
Florida Tech scored a run apiece in the fourth and fifth to take a 2-0 lead heading into the sixth, then added a final run in the sixth to take the 3-0 win.
Randall Thompson took the win for Florida Tech, moving o 3-0 on the season.
Brett Hammaker took the Barry loss and moves to 2-1 for the season.
