ST. LEO, Fla. -- The Barry University softball team (34-18, 14-8 SSC) picked up an 11-inning 3-1 win over the host Saint Leo Lions (34-14, 15-7 SSC) in Sunshine State Conference action earlier tonight at University Field.

Both teams collected a combined 10 hits in the first seven innings, but neither managed to plate a run to send the game into extra innings. Down the stretch, Saint Leo out hit the Buccaneers 5-2, but Barry scored twice in the top of the 11th inning after taking advantage of a critical Lion error for the win.

Maile Keeney (So., Longwood, Fla.) collected two hits and an RBI to lead the Bucs, while Amanda Moore (Jr., St. Louis, Mo.) added two hits and Delilah Stroup picked up an RBI. Saint Leo's Heather Stroud went three-for-five to lead the Lions, while Denyve Duncan added two hits and Alison Flynn picked up the team's only RBI.

Elizabeth Bennett (So., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) picked up the win for Barry going the entire 11 innings and allowed just one unearned run on 10 hits and struck out six to improve to 19-10 overall. Heather Gamlin (8-6) went 11 innings in the loss for Saint Leo, gave up three unearned runs, walked seven and struck out five.

Both teams will wrap up the regular season with the final two games of the conference series on Saturday, Apr. 30 at 1 pm. It will also be the final two games of the regular season for the Bucs as they will await a possible regional tournament appearance.
