ORLANDO -- Barry University's RemiJin Camping was recognized as Sunshine State Conference women's golf Freshman of the Year.
Camping, a product of Hollywood, Florida, made an immediate impact for the Buccaneers, posting a pair of top-five finishes and averaging 77.06 strokes over 15 competitive rounds. At the recently-completed SSC Championships, Camping became the first freshman woman since 2001 to win medalist honors. Camping is also the only golfer from an institution other than Florida Southern or Rollins to have won the SSC Tournament since the tournament's inception in 1999.
She will represent the Buccaneers at the South Region Tournament at Lone Palm Golf Club in Lakeland, Fla., as an individual. She is the first Barry women's player to earn an individual bid to the tournament.
