MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Barry University softball team (18-8) extended their road win streak to six games picking up a pair of wins over the Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders (9-13) earlier today. The Buccaneers won the first game 2-0 and the nightcap 8-0 in six innings.

In the first game, the Buccaneers took advantage of six Southern Arkansas errors and got two of their four hits from Ashley Loose (So., Mill Creek, Wash.) to shutout the Lady Muleriders, 2-0. The Buccaneers scored one run in the first and fifth innings capitalizing on the error opportunities.

Elizabeth Bennett (So., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) earned the first win for Barry going seven innings, allowing six hits and struck out eight to improve to 11-5 on the season. Kayla King (2-3) suffered the loss for Southern Arkansas giving up two unearned runs in five innings and two hits, while striking out five.

Kim Fujimoto (Jr., Carmichael, Calif.), Delilah Stroup (Sr., Punta Gorda, Fla.) and Katie Arnone (Jr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) each collected two RBI to lead Barry to an 8-0 win in the nightcap. Fujimoto also belted her second home run of the season. Barry scored two runs in the first, one in the fifth and five in the sixth inning to secure their fourth shutout victory in eight games.

Ramie Garcia (Jr., Scottsdale, Ariz.) earned the win for the Buccaneers hurling six innings, scattering three hits, while striking out five to improve to 7-3. Josie Lindgrin (2-6) suffered the loss for the Lady Muleriders giving up two runs on four hits and struck out three.

The Buccaneers will wrap up their 10-game road trip with a double-header against Arkansas-Monticello on Friday, Mar. 11 at 2 pm CST.
