Box Score FT. MYERS, Fla. -- The Barry University men's basketball team fell to the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles 69-57 earlier today at the Alico Arena.

After gaining possesion in the first half, Ryan Saunders gave the Bucs (7-8) an early 2-0 lead over the Eagles (13-0), but a short-lived lead. The Eagles scored the next nine points and never looked back leading 40-29 at the half.

In the second half, the Ryan Hopkins led the high powered Eagle offense scoring seven of the Eagles first nine points and extending their lead to 49-29 at the 16:27 mark. However, Nick Ellingsworth-Perez scored 15 of his 24 points in the final 11:08 to keep the Bucs within reach, but still fell 69-57.

Ellingsworth-Perez led the Bucs with 24 points and eight rebounds while Clifford Smith added 12. Hopkins led the Eagles with 14 points, while teammates Brett Fritz and Roman Brown added 12 and 10 respecitively.

The Buccaneers will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 17 hosting Saint Leo at 4 pm at the Health & Sports Center.
