Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry women's soccer team grounded the North Florida Ospreys 5-1 at Buccaneer Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bucs led 2-0 at the half after goals by
Olga Vargas and
Tammie Thornton. But UNF struck back at the 50:57 mark when Ali Blochl captured an errant clearance and beat Buccaneer keeper
Johanna Fischer to pull the Ospreys to within one.
The Bucs had an almost immediate answer as
Emelie Karlsson played give and go with
Tiina Saario in the box. Karlsson's goal at 52:32 restored the Bucs' two goal lead and Barry tacked on two more goals, one by Karlsson and one by
Mairead McLaughlin, the rest of the way for the final margin.
Karlsson added three assists to give her seven points in the contest.
Fischer made two saves for Barry (3-2-2) to earn her third win. Haley Epsteen had eight saves for North Florida (2-2-1) to keep the game from getting out of hand.
The Bucs host Saint Leo on Friday at 4:00 pm in their first home Sunshine State Conference match. The men's team faces Montevallo at 6:00 pm that night and the volleyball team takes on Armstrong Atlantic at 8:00 pm in the Health & Sports Center.
