Box Score HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Barry University women's soccer team ripped through the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters (5-11-0) 3-0 earlier today at Gibbs Field.
Emelie Karlsson gave the Bucs (8-4-2) an early 1-0 lead at the 12:08 mark after taking a pass in the center midfield from
Ulla Matikainen. With 21:46 remaining in the first half, Karlsson crossed a ball from the left side to Matikanien to the opposite side who found
Jena Cernuto crashing from the corner for the score giving the Bucs a 2-0 lead at the half.
In the second half,
Britt Miazgowicz fed
Tiina Saario from the midfield inside the 18-yard box. On the turn, Saario found the back of the net at the 56:41 mark leading to the Bucs' 3-0 victory.
The Buccaneers out shot the Railsplitters 19-3, while the Barry defense held Lincoln Memorial to no shots in the second half.
Johanna Fischer faced only one shot on goal and posted one save on the way to her eighth win of the season improving her record to 8-4-2.
The Buccaneers will return to action in Florence, Ala. on Sunday, Oct. 26 taking on the North Alabama Lions at 12 noon.
