Volleyball Eases Past Tritons

Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Rebounding from Friday's five game loss to conference rival Tampa, the Barry University women's volleyball team eased past the Eckerd College Tritons 3-1 earlier this afternoon at the Health & Sports Center.

The Buccaneers controlled the first half of the match winning the first two games 30-27 and 30-27. However, the Tritons rallied to win game three 30-21. Deciding enough was enough, the Bucs blasted the the Tritons in game four 30-15 for the victory.

For the second consecutive match, Karla Bersano was the Bucs' kills leader, this time with 16. She also tallied a .353 attack percentage and seven total blocks. Fernanda Ferreira followed with 14 kills with match-highs in attack percentage (.478) and digs (10). She also posted seven total blocks.

The Tritons were lead by Delaney Menell with 15 kills and 11 digs, while Samantha Hawk finished with 10 kills.

The Buccaneers improved to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in the SSC, while the Tritons fell to 10-6 overall and 2-2 in the SSC. Barry will resume action on Wednesday, Oct. 9 hosting Miami-Dade CC in a mid-season exhibition. Game time is slated for 7 pm.
