DAVIE, Fla. -- The turnaround since the first weekend has set a new tone for the 11th-ranked Barry women's volleyball team. The sweep of Nova Southeastern on the road Saturday afternoon was the cherry on top to a clean Sunshine State Conference opening weekend.

- Set One – Nova Southeastern took the early momentum with three straight points. Four straight kills brought the Bucs back into the set and tied things up at eight-all. NSU fought back and retook the lead late and even held set points at 24-22. However, Barry scored four straight points to come back and win the set. Valeriya Kozlova scored two kills, and Sofya Toropova and Indigo Pruitt teamed up for a big block to force deuce. Kozlova had six kills in the set to lead the way. - Set Two – Once again, the Sharks struck first. A 4-0 run halfway through the set put some distance on the scoreboard for the Bucs. It was smooth sailing for Barry as they took a 2-0 match lead. Varvara Osychenko led the offense with five kills on nine swings with no errors for a .556 hitting percentage. Another big back row set had 24 digs on the stat sheet. Kae Sato and Toropova each had five. This forced NSU to only hit .022 in the set. | Barry 25, NSU 16
- Set Three – In the third set Barry was able to put one on the board first with a service ace from Petra Brkicic. An 8-2 run set the Bucs up in a good place for the set. After being up 22-14, NSU sparked a hot run of six straight to make it 22-20. Then Barry held match point at 24-21 and the Sharks did not stop fighting back. After a lot of back-and-forth, the Bucs prevailed at 33-31 as Kozlova closed the match out on a service ace for the second night in a row. - Ivana Žujovic becomes the seventh player in Buccaneer history to join the 300 kills and 300 blocks club.
- She also moves into sole possession of ninth in total blocks, the ninth player to reach 300.
- Osychenko and Kozlova each had 13 kills to lead the way for Barry offensively.
- Nine different players recorded a kill in the match.
- Four Bucs were in double-figures in digs, Toropova led the way with 13.
- The 70 digs were the 10th most in a three-set match in program history.
- It is the most in a match since 11/04/2024 against the Sharks (80).
- Thalia Iglesias led the offense with 25 assists.
- Lebron came in for just the final set and recorded 11 digs.
- The defense led in blocks and digs 9-6 and 70-68, respectively.
- Barry has won seven matches in a row since starting the season 0-2.
