Box Score MELBOURNE, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers ripped the Florida Tech Panthers 3-0 Saturday night at the Clemente Center. The Bucs won by scores of 30-26, 30-16, 30-20.
Barry trailed most of game one until a timeout with the score 24-20 in favor of the Panthers helped the Buccaneers right the ship and go on to the win.
Karla Bersano led the attack in the first game with five kills.
The Bucs used the momentum from the game one win to cruise to an easy win in game two.
Sarah Alexander, who got the Bucs off on the right foot with three straight kills early, and Bersano who put the game away late, each had five kills in the frame.
Game three was a nip-and-tuck affair early on. With the Panthers leading 16-14, the Bucs went on an 8-2 run to go up 22-18 and never looked back. Bersano again was the workhorse, registering eight kills.
For the match, Bersano had 18 kills and 12 digs,
Kelly Dantas added 11 kills, while Alexander and
Fernanda Ferreira each chipped in with 10 kills. Ferreira added 12 digs and four blocks and
Daniela Lanza guided the attack with 39 assists, while recording a team-high seven blocks.
The Bucs improve to 11-6, 5-1 in the Sunshine State Conference. The Panthers fall to 10-12, 0-7 in the SSC. Barry is back in action on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Rollins.
