Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.--The Barry University women's soccer team blitzed the Warner Southern College Royals 3-0 at Royal Field Sunday afternoon.
Tammie Thornton scored twice, while Charlene Hillebrand added a goal and an assist as the
Buccaneers improved to 7-2-0.
Melissa Behrle had two assists and Pam McDonald had one. All three goals came in the first 26 minutes.
Royal keepers Jennifer McIntyre and Kristy Wolting combined to make 21 saves as Barry held a 45-6 edge in shots.
Johanna Fischer had one save and
Amy Gibson made two for the Buccaneers.
Thornton netted the first goal just five minutes into the match.
Colleen Gramlich served a corner kick into the box where Behrle gathered it in and found Thornton at the top of the six.
Thornton scored again at the 24th minute. Behrle played the ball from the middle to the right wing where Hillebrand crossed into the penalty area to Thornton for the score.
Hillebrand scored just over a minute later off a cross by McDonald. Hillebrand's shot skipped off a Royal defender into the goal.
The Buccaneers are off until Saturday when they face off against Tampa in a key Sunshine State Conference Match.
