Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University men's basketball team toppled the New Jersey Tech Highlanders 88-70 early Sunday afternoon.
The Buccaneers led for the majority of the first half, but at 11:59, the Highlanders took their only lead of the game 19-18. The Bucs then regained the lead and never looked back leading at the half 48-33.
The Buccaneers went on to extend their lead by as much as 23 points during the second half and came away with an 18-point victory, 88-70.
The Bucs shot a blistering 60.8 percent hitting 31 of 51 from the field for the game with six players registering double-digits in scoring. They also out-rebounded the Highlanders 33 to 24.
Curtis Tonge once again led the Buccaneer winning efforts with a team-high 19 points. Freshman Andres Alfonso followed with 15, Lincoln Glasford and Teddy Sindoris registered 12 a piece while Luis Vazquez-Bello and Bryan Mills registered 11 and 10 points respectively and nine boards a piece.
The Highlanders were paced by Mars Mellish with 22 points.
The Buccaneers improved to 6-4 on the season while the Highlanders fell to 5-7. The Buccaneers will return to action in the new year on Jan. 5 taking on Nova Southeastern at 7:00 p.m.
