Box Score DAVIS, Calif. --- UC Davis rebounded from an opening-night loss to defeat Barry University, 85-73, Saturday night in the consolation game of the Hamilton Classic in front of 1,592 people at Recreation Hall. With the win, the Aggies improve to 1-1 on the young season while Barry falls to 0-2.

UC Davis jumped out early as they build an eight-point lead at 12-4 in the opening five minutes. The lead increased to 18 with five minutes remaining in the first half as UC Davis distributed the ball throughout its lineup. Eight different players scored up to that point as the Aggies built a 36-18 lead. While the first 15 minutes was a team effort, the final two of the half were all Tyler Boyd. Starting with his field goal at the 2:20 mark, Boyd would score the final 10 Aggie points of the half, including a running jumper with just :01 remaining on the clock.

UC Davis carried a 48-31 lead into the break and saw it grow to as much as 27 at the 15:45 mark of the second half. Barry would continue to chip away and had the lead down to eight at 70-62 with 5:42 remaining, but they could get no closer as UC Davis maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the way.

For the second straight night, the Aggies had five players score in double figures as Jess McElree added 13, Dominic Callor and Patrick McDuffie 12 and Danny Workman 10. Brent Wyse would grab a team-best nine rebounds for UC Davis while Boyd also had a team-best four assists.

Barry, which was playing its only two games outside the state of Florida this weekend, was led by Luis Vasquez-Bello's 18 points, while Ronald Lewis would contribute 13 points and three rebounds. Jordan Sztern scored 12 points with a game-high five assists for the Buccaneers.
