Boca Raton, Fla. – The Barry Buccaneers men's and women's cross-country teams opened the season at the Flagship XC Invitational hosted by Keiser University at South County Regional Park.
The women's race consisted of a field of eight teams, while the men's field consisted of nine schools.

- Burks made her collegiate debut for cross country.
- Deveen McPherson also made her debut, finishing in 91st place (28:46.02)
- Jailynn Lorenzo made her collegiate debut, placing 85th (25:43.82)
- Chloe Clemons made her debut and placed 76th (23:51.47)
- Luna de Laat was another freshman who made her debut, finishing 68th (22:55.34)

Bucs travel down the road to St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, FL, to compete in the Bobcat Invitational on Friday, Sept. 11. Start time is set for 6:15 p.m., with the men taking off first. The race will be held on the campus of St. Thomas.
