MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Buccaneer Invitational came to an end with the 13th-ranked Barry women's volleyball team going a perfect 3-0 on the weekend. Saturday featured the Bucs sweeping Lubbock Christian, as they ride a four-match win streak.
Varvara Osychenko was named the tournament MVP, while Veronika Eremeeva was named to the all-tournament team.

SUMMARY:
- Set One – Barry opened the match carrying the momentum from the previous night, going on a 7-1 run. Sofya Toropova had back-to-back kills for the first two points, Three other Bucs tallied a kill in the run. Barry cruised to a first set victory with 16 kills and swinging .452. Veronika Eremeeva and Toropova both had five kills in the set. Kae Sato and Eremeeva also added two service aces a piece. | Barry 25, LCU 11
- Set Two – After the teams exchanged points through the first 13, Barry was able to gain space off the three straight service aces from Eremeeva. It is the second straight day the junior has gone on a run of three or more aces. McKayla Theleus closed out the set with a kill to give the Bucs a two-set lead. Eremeeva added another five-kill set. The team hit .357 and Frankie Good led the defense with a hand in all three blocks. | Barry 25, LCU 16
- Set Three – Toropova once again started a set with a kill. Barry attacked early and often and set themselves up for the sweep. Service held strong with Varvara Osychenko, Thalia Iglesias and Alondra Lebron all earning an ace. NOTEWORTHY:
- Sofya Toropova led all attackers with 12 kills on 16 swings for a .688 average.
- Veronika Eremeeva had 11 kills with six service aces and four digs.
- Barry dominated the stat sheet with advantages in kills, 39-27, aces 12-1, blocks 9-2, and assists 37-26.
- As a team the Bucs swung .425 compared to the Lady Chaps .083.
- Barry has won four matches in a row.

Barry will have a slow week with a solo match, next Saturday, September 12 in Daytona Beach against Lewis at the Embry-Riddle Invitational.
