ORLANDO, Fla.- Eighteen student-athletes are named to the 2026 All-Conference Men's Tennis team this year with the voting being conducted among the leagues men's tenns coaches.
Avi Kigel was named the coach of the year for the first time on the men's side, while three Bucs were selceted to the All-SSC teams.
Sunshine State Conference coaches have named
Avi Kigel of Barry University as the SSC Coach of the Year. This marks Kigel's first time earning the honor on the men's side after guiding the Buccaneers to a perfect 18-0 overall record and a 7-0 mark in conference play during the regular season. Barry is the only conference school to have two different coaches win the award in both genders, joining George Samuel who won the award 17 times with the men and four with the women, Kigle is only the fifth coach overall in SSC history to achieve the distinction..Kigel has swept both conference titles in his two years at the helm, this is his ninth overall award as a Barry head coach. Under his leadership, the Bucs captured both the SSC regular season and tournament championships for the second consecutive year. Barry also currently holds the No. 2 spot in the ITA rankings.
Adam Lynch who is currently ranked No. 33 by the ITA is a repeat All-SSC winner. Lynch improved from Second-Team last year to First-Team in singles this year. He also adds All-SSC First-Team for doubles to his list of achievements. The senior currently hold a 13-1 record overall in singles this season with a perfect 5-0 record in conference play. Nine of his wins come from playing in the number three spot, while two come from playing in the fourth spot, and one comes from playing in the number two spot. He also boast an impressive 14-1 record in doubles and a 5-1 record in conference play for doubles.
Thomas Machado was selected for the All-SSC First-Team for doubles and the All-SSC Second-Team for singles. The senior holds a 13-1 record in singles and a 4-1 record in the conference. One of those wins comes from playing in the one spot, two come from playing in the two spot, four come from playing in the three spot, and seven come from playing in the four spot. In doubles he is currently on a 15 match win streak and is 6-1 in conference play. This is Machado's first time being selected for the All-Conference Teams.
Yan Kodjoed who is currently ranked No. 2 in the ITA Rankings for singles, but spent the majority of the year ranked No. 1, was selected to the All-SSC First-Team for singles, for the first time in his collegiate career. Kodjoed holds a 12-3 record in the regular season and a 6-1 conference record. He is 6-3 in the number one spot and 8-0 while playing in the two spot.
