MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Ava McCarthy and Kate Rutledge were recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom, being selected to the Women's Swimming Academic All-District team this season.
McCarthy, a sophomore from Marietta, Ga., carries a 3.807 GPA in advertising/public relations. She swam in 12 of the 13 events for the Bucs this season. She had a couple of third-place finishes in the 100 yard breaststroke, at the duals meets against Lynn Keiser.
Rutledge, a sophomore from St. Petersburg, Fla., has compiled a 3.819 GPA in international business. She also swam in 12 of the 13 events for the team. She posted first-place finishes in the 500 yard free style and 1000 yard freestyle over the course of the season, while posting personal bests in the 1000 and 1650 free at the Sunshine State Conference meet.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's Swmimming teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All-District® teams require players to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA as both a undergraduate and graduate student, as well as compete in 75 percent of competitions OR finish top-eight at a conference meet OR participate in a national championship.
The Division II CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II Academic All-America® programs.
