Baseball Loses Second Game To #21 Rollins

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost 6-2 to the #21 Rollins Tars in the second game of their Sunshine State Conference baseball series at Feinbloom Field on Saturday afternoon.

  • T1 - The Bucs fell behind in the top of the first. With two outs, Michael Furry walked and Connor O'Sullivan singled to right. Jayden Brown bounced an RBI single up the middle and advanced on the the throw home. Matthew Mateo followed with a two-run single to give the Tars a lead they would never relenquish. | Rollins 3, Barry 0
  • B3 - The Bucs got on the board in the third off Rollins starter Brett Dennis (5-3). Aramis Ramirez, Jr., singled and stole second. He scored on a base hit by Zavier Hatfield. | Rollins 3, Barry 1
  • T4 - Brown walked, stole second and scored on a base hit by Stephen Deans. | Rollins 4, Barry 1
  • T5 - With two outs again in the fifth, Furry walked. He later scored on a dropped fly ball by left fielder Aidan Heffner. O'Sullivan, who reached on the error, scored on a single by Brown. | Rollins 6, Barry 1
  • B7 - Brandon Delapenha led off the seventh with a double down the left field line after a nine-pitch at-bat. Lee-Anthony Santiago cashed him in with a first-pitch single to center. | Rollins 6, Barry 2

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Dennis worked seven innings, holding the Bucs to two runs on eight hits. He struck out six and did not walk a batter to earn his fifth win. 
  • Freshman Dane Wright (1-2), making his first conference start, gave up four runs on four hits and two walks in four innings to take the loss.
  • John Perozzi set down 12 of the 13 Tars he faced, only allowing one runner on an error, to close the game for the Bucs. 
  • Jalen Smith had two hits for Barry, while Hatfield and Santiago drove in the two runs. 
  • Brown led the Tars with two hits, two runs and two RBI.

The Bucs and Tars concludethe series with a single game on Sunday, starting at 1:00 pm.
