MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The No. 1 Barry University women's tennis team capped off an undefeated week at home with a 6-1 victory over No. 15 Valdosta State in its fourth match of the week.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Barry started on a high note, winning all three doubles flights simultaneously to give the Bucs the lead heading into singles.
- The No. 30-ranked Michalitsch carried that momentum into singles, defeating Fay in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, to give the Bucs a 2-0 advantage.
- Dema ranked No. 31, followed with a strong performance of her own, defeating Beckx in a first-set tiebreaker, 7-6(3), before closing out the match 6-2 in the second set, putting Barry one point away from clinching the victory.
- The Number Eight-ranked Heimen secured the win for the Bucs in comeback fashion, dropping the first set 2-6 before dominating the next two sets 6-2, 6-2 against Prokic.
- Lutringer faced a tough match against No. 65-ranked Castillo, losing the first set in a tiebreaker 7-6(7). She responded with a 6-4 win in the second set but ultimately fell in a 10-point tiebreaker, 1-0(8), giving Valdosta State its only point of the match.
- Nikolova extended Barry's lead with a solid 6-4, 6-3 victory over Vial.
- Brun was the final Buc to finish, bouncing back after dropping the first set 6-4. She dominated the second set 6-0 and sealed the match with a 10-point tiebreaker win, 1-0(3).
NOTEWORTHY:
- Michalitsch and Dema are 8-0 for the season in singles.
- Also in singles, Heimen is on a five-match win streak.
- In doubles, the No. 16-ranked duo of Crespo and Lutringer is continuing their dominant run, winning nine of their last ten matches.
- The doubles duo of Nikolova and Dema is also on its own winning run, staying undefeated for the season.
- The Bucs have not lost to Valdosta since the 2008 spring season.
