Women's Tennis Snaps Rollins Win Streak to Extend Their Own

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. --  The Barry University women's tennis team continued its strong run, earning its 12th victory of the season and third in conference play with a commanding 6-1 win over Rollins College to snap the Tars four-match win streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Bucs set the tone early in doubles, sweeping all three flights to secure the opening point and take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
  • In singles, Anger was the first off court six, delivering a dominating 6-3, 6-0 victory over Eckstein to extend Barry's lead.
  • Heimen followed on court two, defeating Can 6-2, 6-1 to put the Bucs up 3-0.
  • Michalitsch secured the win for the Bucs with a decisive 6-3, 6-0 win against Abdulloeva.
  • Dema added to the Bucs lead with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Falster, avoiding a first-set tiebreak.
  • The Tars earned their first and only point of the match when No. 8 Novoa topped No. 36 Crespo 7-5, 6-2.
  • Lutringer closed out the day for the Bucs with a hard-fought win over Tilipman, prevailing 7-5, 6-1, 1-0 (10) in a match that ended in a 10-point tiebreak.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Bucs are undefeated at home for the season. 
  • Anger and Michalitsch are now on a nine-match win streak in singles.
  • Dema is on an eight-match win streak, staying undefeated this season. 
  • Lutringer is also undefeated, winning all six of her last matches. 
  • The doubles team of Dema and Viktoriia is undefeated and on an eight-match win streak.
