Third Straight SSC Series Win For Softball

LAKELAND, Fla. --  Another Sunshine State Conference series goes in favor of the Barry Softball team. The Buccaneers take the rubber match over Florida Southern to secure their third straight series win.

SUMMARY:

  • B3 – A lead off single reached and stole second to make an early threat in the bottom of the third. The Mocs took the lead first for the second time in the series. | FSC 1, Barry 0
  • T6 – Barry was able to finally break through in the top of the sixth. Serah Shafer led off the inning with an infield single and used her speed to steal second and set herself up to be the tying run. Chandler Barry had the clutch double and drove her in to make it 1-1. Kiera Strub then followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Isabel Vera had the sacrifice fly that brought in what would be the game winning run. | Barry 2, FSC 1

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Mya Tucker and Shafer once again had multi-hit games, both going 2-for-4.
  • Tucker extends her on-base streak to 28
  • Strub delivered in her one at bat as a pinch hitter.
  • Alexis Martin went the distance for the second straight game.
  • Martin collected her eighth win and seventh complete game, with just four hits given up and one run, picking up four strikeouts.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Buccaneers will return home and host SSC opponent, Saint Leo for the three game series starting Friday, March 20.
