INDIANAPOLIS, IN. --  For the second straight Sunday, Barry University is on top of the tennis world. The no. 1 ranked Buccaneer Women's Tennis team completed the ITA Indoor Championships bringing home the title after sweeping the seventh-ranked West Florida Argonauts. This is the sixth indoor title in program history for the women, fifth straight.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Bucs took the doubles lead as Dema and Nikolova took court three in straight sets.
• Crespo and Lutringer clinched the first point of the match upsetting the #5 ranked doubles duo of Verdu and Recuenco on the top flight.
• With the point clinched the match on court two was left unfinished as Barry started singles up 1-0.
• Dema was the first to win her match for the second straight day. This made the score 2-0 for Barry.
• Anger followed by defeating Kochis after in straight sets, putting the Bucs one point away from clinching.
• Lutringer clinched the match for Barry while holding serve and not allowing a point in the final game.
• With the match clinched, the rest of the singles were left unfinished.

NOTEWORTHY:

• Dema and Nikolova dropped just two games overall as a duo going 18-2 in doubles on the weekend. They have won four-straight.
• Crespo and Lutringer picked up their first ranked victory this season and improve to 5-1 together.
• Heimen was up 5-2 in the top-15 showdown on flight one.
• Anger and Lutringer are currently riding five match win streaks in singles.
• The Bucs have won 14 straight against the Argonauts.
• Barry is now on a 30-match winning streak, dating back to the 2025 season where they ended on a 23-match win streak. 
• The only time the Bucs have not won the ITA Indoor Championships was in 2021 when they were not allowed to compete due to the pandemic.
• The men's tennis team also won the ITA Indoor Championship this year, making this the second time both teams have won in the same year.
