Softball Secures First Conference Series Victory of the Season

DAVIE, Fla. – The Barry Softball team secured their first Sunshine State Conference series victory of the 2026 season. The Bucs took down Nova Southeastern on the road winning games one and three of the series, splitting the double header on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE):
  • B1 - A throwing error allowed a Shark to reach the base path and come around to score later in the inning for the first run of the game. | NSU 1, Barry 0
  • B3 - A two-run home run padded the lead for the Sharks. | NSU 3, Barry 0
  • B4 - Nova Southeastern was able to take advantage of a two-out rally and put up another crooked number in the bottom of the fourth. | NSU 5,  Barry 0
  • B6 - The final run of the game came in the bottom of the sixth off another two-out opportunity. | NSU 6, Barry 0
NOTEWORTHY (GAME ONE):
  • Harper Bunn had two of the Buccaneers three hits.
  • Barry was out-hit 11-3 in the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME TWO):
  • T1 - The Buccaneers struck first in the series finale. Bunn led off the game with a triple to right field. Serah Shafer then brought her home on a ground out to second base. | Barry 1, NSU 0
  • T2 - Shelby Prevatte was hit by a pitch, moved over on a ground out and then stole third to put herself in scoring position. Cameron Matchese had an infield single that brought in the second run of the game for the Bucs. | Barry 2, NSU 0
  • T3 - Three straight singles led off the top of the third as the offense stayed on the attack. Sarah Langlie had the third base hit that drove in two runs on the play. | Barry 4, NSU 0
  • B3 - NSU was able to chip away and make it a one run game with back to back home runs. | Barry 4, NSU 3
  • T4 - For the fourth straight inning the Bucs were able to put a run on the board and add insurance. Marchese led off the inning with a ground-rule double down the left field line. With two-away, Tucker was able to drive in the run with a base hit through the right side.

NOTEWORTHY (GAME TWO):

  • Alexis Martin went the distance for Barry in the circle with six strike outs and picking up her fourth win of the season.
  • Marchese and Tucker led the offense with two-hits a piece.
  • The Bucs out-hit NSU 8-5 and also stranded more runners at 7-4.
  • This is the second straight year Barry has won the SSC series against the Sharks to start conference play.
  • It is the first road series win over NSU since 2016. 
ON THE HORIZON
The Buccaneers will continue league play and host their first conference series welcoming the Eagles from Embry-Riddle to Miami Shores on Friday, February 27.
