MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers baseball team took the series from the Southern Connecticut State Owls with a 7-6 win in game one on Saturday, but the Owls came back to take the finale 13-12 at Feinbloom Field.

- T1 - The game got off to a fast start with both teams scoring four runs in the first. Staubley hit a two-run homer for the Owls and Jake Chacho and Alex Capellucci each had RBI singles. | SCSU 4, Barry 0
- B1 - Hatfield led off with a single through the right side and one out later, Smith belted his fourth homer of the season to cut the lead in half. The Bucs tied the game when, after walks to Tralongo and Aidan Heffner, Christian Perez beat out an infield single and Staubley threw the ball into right, allowing the two runners to score. | Barry 4, SCSU 4
- B2 - Barry took a lead with two runs in the second. After Aramis Ramirez, Jr., reached on an error and Hatfield singled, Blanks knocked in Ramirerz with a single down the left field line and later worked a double steal with Hatfield for the second run. | Barry 6, SCSU 4
- T3 - Cappellucci deilvered two runs with a single to center and Matt Scalia added a a run-scoring single to give the Owls the lead. | SCSU 7, Barry 6
- T6 The Owls tacked on three in the sixth, thanks to some wildness by the Bucs. Barry had and error, two walks and two wild pitches. | SCSU 10, Barry 6

- B7 - Barry got two runs back in the bottom of the frame. Blanks was hit by pitch and Smith singles to left. After they both moved up on a wild pitch by Owl releiver Pete Glidden, Blanks scored on a ground out and Smith on another wild pitch by Glidden.Â
- B8 - The Bucs tied it up 11-11 in the eighth on three unearned runs. Ramirez and Hatfield singled with two outs. After a dropped foul ball by Pelletier extended his at-bat, Blanks singled to right to drive in Ramirez. Smtih was hit by Glidden to load the bases and, after a pitching change, Opie dropped a single into left field to tie the game. | Barry 11, SCSU 11
- T9 - After a single and a hit batter, the Owls took a lead when both runners scored on a throwing error. | SCSU 13, Barry 11
- B9 - The Owls tried to gift the lead back to the Bucs in the bottom of the ninth. Santiago reached on an error by Fideli at third and scored on a single by Ramierz, but that's all the Bucs could muster in the final inning. | SCSU 13, Barry 12
NOTEWORTHY:
- Tyler Venagas (2-0) worked two perfect innings with four strikeouts in game one for the win.
- John Perozzi (2-1) was hung with the loss in the nightcap. He gave up two unearned runs on a hit and hit batsman and struck out two in an inning of work.
- Peyton Powell (0-1) took the loss in the opener for SCSU. He worked three innings, allowing one run on two hits and two walks and struck out three.
- Johnny O'Brien (1-0) got the win in game two, despite giving up an unearned run in the ninth.
- Hatfield led the Bucs at the plate, going 5-for-8 with three walks and six runs scored.
- Smith was 4-for-9 with two homers and five RBI.
- Blanks also went 4-for-9 with three runs and two RBI.
- Staubley led the Owls, going 4-for-8 with two homers and four RBI.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Buccaneers kick off Sunshine State Conference play next weekend, hosting cross-town rival Nova Southeastern in a three-game set, Feb. 20-22.
