Men's Basketball Falls to Spartans At Home

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Men's Basketball team fell to Tampa on Wednesday night from Cesar Odio Court as they split the season series against the Spartans.

SUMMARY:

  • 1H - Tampa jumped out to the lead first for with a 5-0 run. The Buccaneers responded with three straight baskets from Deon Perry to take a one-point lead. It was a back-and-forth battle through the first seven minutes. The Spartans were then able to go on a 12-0 run in a two-minute span to give themselves a sizable lead.     2H – Barry was able to open the half on a 9-4 run to get the offense going. The Buccaneers were able to cut it down to a nine-point lead with 14:44 remaining. It was s six-point game with six minutes left as Malik Stanley drained one from downtown. Tampa went on a 9-1 run that brought it back to a double-digit lead that carried through the rest of the game. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Deon Perry was one of four Bucs in double figures with 26 points.
  • Malik Stanley had his eighth double-digit game off the bench this season with 16.
  • Tarrance Warren and Marko Šarenac had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
  • Tampa out rebounded Barry 44-25, doubling the offensive boards 12-6 and 32-19 on the defensive end.
  • The Bucs did lead in fast break points 21-9 and 30-19 on contributions from the bench.

ON THE HORIZON:
Barry will remain at home and host Saint Leo on Valentine's Day this Saturday.
