Men's Basketball Tames The Lions

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Men's Basketball team had no love for the Saint Leo Lions as they sweep the season series on Valentine's Day from Cesar Odio Court. Marko Šarenac led the charge with a season-high 25 points as Barry picked up a crucial Sunshine State Conference win.

SUMMARY:

  • 1H - Jose Benitez got the scoring going for Barry drilling one from downtown. Saint Leo held the lead through the first 12 minutes of the half. Breno Silva drained a triple to give the Bucs the tilt on the board. An 11-2 run gave Barry breathing room with 2:42 on the clock. Marko Sarenac had seven of the 11 points with an exclamation point dunk in the process. The Bucs went into the half with a six-point lead.     2H – The momentum fell in favor of the Bucs as they opened the half with a 12-0 run. The Lions continued to claw their way back into the game keeping it within two possessions in the final five minutes. Barry was able to make timely free throws in order to keep them at bay and take the win. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Sarenac had a Buccaneer career-high of 25 points, making it a double-double with 12 rebounds.
  • Stanley continues to be a force off the bench contributing 17 points.
  • Michael Bradley III had a career-high nine boards, he added three steals and a block.
  • The Bucs bench outscored the Lions 34-26.
  • Saint Leo had four players in double figures.
