MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The 23rd-ranked Barry Softball team opened up the 2026 season with.a doubleheader at Buccaneer Field, hosting Alabama-Huntsville. The Bucs dropped both games as they faced the Chargers for the first time in three years.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE):
- T3 | UAH broke the ice in the top of the third putting up three runs. A two-out rally sparked and three extra base helped lead the way in the scoring. I UAH 3, Barry 0
- T4 | A leadoff single came to score two at-bats later from another single down the left field line that added onto the Charger lead. | UAH 4, Barry 0
- B4 | Barry put up their first two runs of the season and cut the deficit in half. Back to back walks added early pressure, Alexis Martin had the big hit to drive in both runners and get the offense going. | UAH 4, Barry 2
- T5 | An error aided in the additional run scored by UAH to get back one of the runs. | UAH 5, Barry 2
- T6 | Another timely hit for the Chargers brough home.a run with two-outs as they kept adding insurance. | UAH 6, Barry 2
- T7 | UAH added one final run as they scored in five straight innings. | UAH 7, Barry 2
NOTEWORTHY (GAME ONE):
- The Bucs offense was limited to just four hits, but drew four walks to find their way on the base path.
- Mya Tucker and Serah Shafer picked up their first stole bases of the season.
- Martin took the loss throwing four innings and giving up four earned runs on seven hits, but picked up three strikeouts.
- Alexis Martin came in and collected the save and retired the final eight batters faced in order.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME TWO):
- B1 | The Barry offense got going much faster in game two. Harper Bunn led off with a walk and Shafer came right behind with a bunt single to get two runners aboard. A wild pitch put them into scoring position and Tucker drew a walk right after to load them up. Sarah Langlie delivered the sacrifice fly to get on the board first. I Barry 1, UAH 0
- T3 | UAH tied it up in the top of the third as a leadoff walk came around to score. | Barry 1, UAH 1
- B3 | Barry bounced back and put up two more runs in the bottom half of the inning. Tucker and Langlie got the inning going with back to back singles, Chandler Barry then loaded the bases by drawing a walk. Vivian Billard had the sacrifice fly that brought home Tucker and both runners advanced on the throw. Martin drove in another run with a ground out to second base. | Barry 3, UAH 1
- T4 | The Chargers gained the first lead in the second game in the top of the fourth putting up six runs. The runs were scored on six hits and no defensive errors committed by Barry. Haelee Angelico came into relief and struck out the one batter faced to end the inning. | UAH 7, Barry 3
- B4 | Barry continued to fight and put up three runs to make it a one-run game. Bunn got the rally going once again, this time with a double to left center. Tucker had the ground-out RBI for the first run. Langlie had an RBI-single to bring in Shafer who singled previously for the second run. Freshman, Billard, picked up her first collegiate hit in the inning. Isabel Vera also picked up her first collegiate hit and drove in a run in the process. | UAH 7, Barry 6
- T5 | The Chargers rallied right back and put up nine runs in the the top of the fifth off seven hits to enable the run-rule effect and end the game early. | UAH 16, Barry 6
NOTEWORTHY (GAME TWO):
- Billard and Vera both collected their first collegiate hits.
- Billard also picked up her first career strikeout in the circle.
- Shafer and Langlie both had multi-hit games.
- The Bucs have lost 11-straight to the Chargers dating back to 2013.
ON THE HORIZON
The Bucs will play a neutral site double header closing out the third game with UAH at 10:00am and then opening up a new three-game series against West Florida at 3:00pm from the campus of Nova Southeastern.
