Make It Three In A Row For Men's Basketball

The Buccaneers win three in a row for the first time since the first three wins this season

ST. LEO, Fla. -- A new leaf has turned for the relentless Barry Men's Basketball team who has strung together three wins for the first time since their first three initial wins this season. The Buccaneers defeated Saint Leo at the Bowman Center in Saturday afternoon.

SUMMARY:

  • 1H - Deon Perry got the scoring started with the first basket of the game. It was a back and forth battle up until the 4:19 mark in the first half. Malik Stanley hit the go ahead jumper that put the Bucs ahead at 32-31. It kicked off an 8-0 run that gave Barry their biggest lead of the half. Novak Perovic hit a put back layup to close out the first half and have the Buccaneers up by five. Perry and Stanley led in scoring both in double figures before the break.   • 2H - Saint Leo came out with a 6-0 run that put them within a basket of tying things up quickly. The Tarrance Warren show then began as he scored the Bucs next 12 points and started breaking away from the Lions. From that point on it was not a close game as the lowest lead was at five for the remainder of the game. | Barry 81, Saint Leo 73

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Warren had 22 of his 27 points in the second half.
  • It is a new Buccaneer career-high and his 10th game in double figures this season.
  • Perry was right behind with a 20-point game of his own.
  • Stanley followed suit with 15 points off the bench.
  • Novak Perovic had a career-high nine assists.
  • Marko Šarenac continues to dominate on the glass with 16 boards.
  • Barry is 9-0 when leading at the half.
  • The Bucs bench dominated outscoring the Lions 44-9.
  • This breaks the overall series tie and gives Barry the edge.

Barry will stay on the road next week in their lone game at Florida Tech on Wednesday, January 21.
